It's Just Me Today

First, Thank you so much to everyone who linked up yesterday! I am still getting around to reading everyone's posts, but really just wanted to say thank you. Y'all mean the world to me for linking up.  :)

I have decided to come to a halt for the link ups today. There are so many I wanted to participate in, but really just thought I need some "me" space. I've been thinking about it a lot lately how I scroll through my blog and don't see much of my real self on here. It is kind of fizzling. Lately I have gotten caught up with the fun link ups and etc. They were so great and so fun and I don't regret them at all. But I think it's important for me to stay true to the reason I started this blog in the first place, and that's to share my stories and keep family and friends updated on our life. So that's what this post will be about today. But no worries, I'll still be linking up for many more moons :)

So a few things I wanted to talk about today.

First, is how I am so upset about our puppy Rayne... Our mischievous little pup has been constantly getting into trouble this past week. About 5 months ago we bought her a large fence play yard to keep her in while we are at work. She loved it! We put it right on top of the carpet and she never had any accidents or troubles. Until last week. We came home to a huge hole in our carpet. We rent right now, so you can imagine the heart attack we had when we saw this. We wanted to keep her in the pen so we went to Lowe's and got them to cut up a piece of carpet to put on top of the torn up carpet. I kid you not, the next day we came home to this......

You can imagine that neither me or Papa Joel were very happy. We then kept her crated for the next three days until we could get to Lowe's again. So three days ago we went back to Lowe's and decided to give it another shot. We found some thick/hard plastic flooring that we thought she would never be able to get out of. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.

Yesterday after coming home all excited to take her on a walk, we walked into her room and were in total shock. Yes, the dog chewed through the plastic flooring just like she did the carpet. We were both so upset that we didn't even get a chance to take a picture. And y'all I should have. You would not believe the damage she did. It looked exactly the same as the carpet picture, but with hard flooring.

It amazes me. How did we go 5 months with no problems, to all the sudden psycho possessed dog? What do we do? Seriously, we need help and suggestions!

Is the Dog Whisperer available to come over?

From now on, she is being crated, which we hate since we have to leave her in there for a long time. But unless someone wants to make us a platform of tile, then I think we are fresh out of luck. Really any suggestions would be helpful to us at this point.

Okay moving on....

Can we talk about how frustrating it is to prove I'm not a robot? Word verification YOU SUCK! Go away. I counted one day, I re typed that mumble jumble 13 times on someones blog. I feel really dumb and not smart sometimes. The emotional toll this brings is just frustrating. Up until a week or so ago the words were much easier to distinguish, now I just can't make out the words at all. So no worries my fellow friends, I don't have word verification, never have, and don't plan to ever have it. Spam detection has done a wonderful job so far for me.

Did y'all know it's FRIDAY? I kind of forgot and it snuck up on me. This week went by really fast (not complaining) and I am really excited about this weekend. There is a rumor that a brewery around here is going to be serving crawfish on Saturday, can you believe it? I may just go a little crazy if this does pan out and hold true. No worries, I'll blog all about it. Cross your fingers for me :)

Have a great day and Happy Friday !!!!

  1. wow - your pup is definitely NOT happy with that carpet! When we were slowly allowing our pup to stay in the house without being crated during the day, he chewed up the metal bars on the coffee table! THEN he chewed on the recliner handle. THankfully he seems to have grown out of that. I'm wondering if it is because he has TWO beds now - one in the living room and one in the bedroom...um, spoiled much?! Hopefully you guys get it figured out and have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I hate those word verification things too! I would definitely rather get more comments on our blog than prevent people by having one of those. Also completely agree on the link ups. I feel like some bloggers only do linkups and never write anything that's going on. Good for you! :)

  3. Oh little Rayne! All I can say is it gets better and 14 months ago I was exactly where you are (i.e. multiple trips to Lowes). I feel like I need to do some sort of public service announcement for owners of sometime destructive dogs. Hopefully this entry from my blog in 2010 will make you feel a little better...at least Rayne wasn't covered in duct tape!

  4. Definitely agree on the Link-Ups! And I third the annoying word verifications. I sometimes think I am losing my eyesight, it takes me so many tries to get it right! I have 2 dogs, and they do go through phases where they act up after a period of being so good. All I would suggest is exercise, and more exercise. Oh - do you have a doggy daycare around where you live? It did WONDERS with our dog!! It's pricey, so I only took her once a week, but she loved the socialization with other dogs and was generally exhausted for 2 days after. I would highly recommend it. Good luck!

  5. I seriously get so sick of word verifications, especially when I have to scroll through them because I seriously can't make any of them work. That's the worse.

Here is the story. Our dog is the naughtiest baby alive. She is an English Bulldog, so we thought she'd be lazy and mellow like the breed is known for. Wrong! She is hyperactive! We had that same pen you have, and had the same routine as you. She was so naughty in there, we finally (in the summer) had the pen out in the garage which worked until she learned how to climb over it. Now we kennel her. I always felt so bad about it, but the funny thing is since we started kenneling her while we were at work, she loves her kennel. She will go in there to rest, take naps and even bring her food in there. But on top of that she is much better behaved. In and out of the kennel. I don't know if that's true for all dogs but definitely for ours. Also when our dog is naughty J and I would be stressed and irritable, and since she is in there, and now knows it is her routine. It is kind of win - win.

  6. Let me just say, we are on the same boat. Our sweet little four-legged angel has given us trouble, but I am cheering him on hoping it was just a phase. And those annoying, annoying, I repeat terribly annoying robot verifications are impossible.

  7. Oh, I hate the word verification too! Drives me crazy!

  8. OhMyGosh Rayne!! That's terrible! Radley has chewed up lots of cords so we sprayed everything we didn't want her to chew on with bitter cherry spray (I think we got it at Wal Mart). Have y'all tried that? I would soak the carpet with it! And Connor informed me yesterday that we're going to dinner tonight. Yay, can't wait to hang out!

  9. I always much prefer to read about bloggers, than I do about link-ups! Don't get me wrong, a link up from time to time is always fun to participate in and to help meet other lovely ladies, but ultimately people want to read something a bit more personal :-) Good job!

  10. It is totally ok to crate carpet chewers. Dogs like the "den feel anyway. Or that's what I tell myself. And AMEN to the word verification. Seriously, it should at least me legible.

  11. My dog chewed through hardwood floor! I wish I had some tips for what to do, but I think he eventually just gave up!

  12. I hate those so much!!! They really do suck. Aw your pup is so cute! I like t think I'm the dog whisperer, so maybe I can come over. Haha

  13. I totally agree with the word verification things... they don't make them clear enough to even see the word! It's so frustrating!

  14. Jack did the same thing when he was losing his baby teeth. Only instead of carpet he chewed on the legs of one of dining table chairs. He eventually outgrew it but until then we gave him ice tubes to chew on to help numb his teeth and because they were hard.

Also, I'm with you. I HATE word verification things!

  15. Totally why we don't have a dog! Good luck with your puppy troubles :)

    Have a great weekend!

  16. thanks for saying that about word verification! I was thinking about posting something on my blog about it. I just don't know how to say it in a nice way to my dear blog friends who have it!

  17. I'm sorry to hear that about your poor pup!

And I totally agree on the word verification. You get 2 tries from me. I don't spend all day trying to post a comment. And the new word things are a beast to enter in!

  18. Oh my goodness! Yeah our pup Chloe is almost 4. She cannot be left out of her crate while we are gone. She chews mini blinds. At one time I used sour apple (I think that's what its called
From petsmart). You spray it in something and it's suppose to keep them from chewing on it. She used to hew window sills and the post of our bed frame but I would spray that and it seemed to help. Ans I agree with miki...Chloe has a BIG kennel and it's her safe place :-)

  19. Oh I'm sorry for the issues you are having with your beloved pooch, I hope you can get some advice.

Amen to the word verification, and the words it makes us type, VULGAR!!!!

    Have a good weekend!

  20. Totally agree with you re: the frustration of word verification. Oy.
    Happy Weekend! xo

  21. The only thing that has saved my sanity with our hyper pup is his crate. Followed closely by kongs with frozen peanut butter in them and the dog park at least once a week to wear him out!! Good luck, I know how hard/frustrating/guilty feeling it can make you to have a destructive pup.

  24. I am so with you on the word verification thing. They are awful!! And sometimes the words they use just make you stop and say "seriously!?". Oh my! I hope you can solve your doggy problem soon. I wish I could offer advice, but I don't know a whole lot about dogs! Ha! Have a good weekend!

  25. GIIIIRRRLLLL.... i know all too well about psycho crazy dog. Ive had one for 5 years now. Ugh. And i have no advice... because NOTHING has worked for us!

  26. Man, I'm definitely no dog whisperer! Our family has tried countless times to have a pet dog and it just never seems to work out. They're the best if you can get them past the trouble stage! Good luck and thank goodness it's the weekend right? :)

  27. I feel your pain about the whole in the carpet! Our dog did a similar thing while left at home (he was safely contained...didn't think about the carpet). We are dreading the day we move out and have to pay for that freak out.

    The woes of puppy parenthood!
