**Don't forget to enter the awesome Stella & Dot Necklace Giveaway !

Good day friends !
This weekend I will be somewhat out of touch. I am really really excited that my parents are coming to visit today and will be here this afternoon! I have not seen them since Easter, so I've missed them very much! I get to celebrate a belated Mother's day with my Mama, since I missed her on Friday, so I am pretty excited about those festivities !

Saturday, we will be heading to Nashville for my cousins wedding! I am so excited for her and can't wait to see some of my family members that I haven't seen in a long time. Her wedding will be beautiful and I will be sure to take lots of pictures! Be sure to follow me via instragram :: britt_themagnoliapair :: to see all my pictures from the weekend, because there will be many !

Now....For the Deep Stuff.... As some of y'all saw VIA Twitter, I applied to college post-baccalaureate yesterday! It all happened So So Quick ! It was the matter of an hour and I just clicked, made a phone call, paid a $30 application fee, sent a transcript, and I had applied to college. I've been debating it for a few weeks now, and realized after speaking to a counselor that I need to jump on it before I lost my chance to start school in the fall. I thought I was going to do graduate school, but I opted not to and to just go get a whole new degree.
When I was in college, I felt pressured to pick a major, graduate in 4 years, get a good internship, and graduate. Which I did, by the grace of God. But this time around, I want to to do what I want to do. My passion was to teach Secondary Art Education, but my program was discontinued and I had to forget my dream. My passion grew for photography and I still embraced my artistic side. I graduated in a degree I loved, but was not passion about.
I want to take classes I'll enjoy...like, Art, photography, music, and more. Now that the pressure is off I am going to actually go back to college and embrace my dreams!
I usually wouldn't share something like this so soon (without officially getting in yet), but I really just think no matter what happens, I think my decision to try to go back will hopefully inspire others to chase their dreams too, no matter what they may be.
This photo of Liberty Leading the People sums up my feelings about going back, "I'm going back, who's with me?"

Now, it's time for y'all to meet my lovely Sponsors ! Be sure to check out their blogs and show them some love !

  2. How exciting! I'm a firm believer in taking classes & learning, whether in college or workshop form. When I went back for my masters it was so much fun to get to take classes that I enjoyed! I love that you are going back for art education. I'm credentialed to teach art, but ended up teaching in a self-contained classroom instead. I always wished I could have found a position in an art classroom though. Best of luck to you!

  3. Oooh, we need to talk! In undergrad I was an art major (painting and drawing), and after graduation I did a post-bacc teaching program for art ad! I am now a K-12 art teacher and also have a Master's degree in Liberal Arts, which meant I was able to design my own program and take a variety of courses that I was really interested in - literature, film, art history, music... I absolutely loved it! What sort of post-bacc program did you apply for, exactly? How exciting that you sent in your application, I hope it all works out! I had no idea we had such similar interests, how cool!

  5. Congrats on following your dreams, girl :)
SUCH an inspiration, because a lot of people are too afraid to do that!

I've actually considering getting a second bachelor's degree in some type of nutrition! Maybe someday I'll do it...but I need a break right now lol.

So excited to hear about your new adventures!

happy weekend - enjoy it :)

  6. That's so awesome on you going back to school! I would so go back and get a dance degree if 1. There was a dance college in my town and 2. If they let 31 year old women do it...I might be on the old side for dance.

  10. Congrats on applying! I too am applying to an art education program at the moment and just hit submit today! I was also a studio art major but was lucky enough to get an education certification along with it.
I think it is a huge accomplishment to decide to go back. When we were 18, it was the thing everyone did, it was expected. As an adult it takes a lot of courage and motivation to go back to school. You should be proud to be taking that step! I'm proud of both of us ;)
