Ikat inspiration

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

So, we are now around 3 weeks until we make the big move and I am just ecstatic! I am constantly day dreaming and wishing the time would just come sooner. I've been eying some specific interior styles for our new home since we never really compiled an official look for our current home. Thanks to etsy, I've really found some perfect new pillows and accessories that I cannot wait to order!

In our current place, I tried to do a nautical/beach theme, but over time I just kind of outgrew the look. I''ve decided to go with a style that is very versatile and can be mixed with other themes. Ikat, has really been catching my eye lately. It's not as versatile, but I think it definitely holds more versatility than a beach/nautical theme.

I've always loved baby blues, aqua, and creme/nude for a color theme. I really love blush pink, nude, and gold but since getting married and sharing a place with a man, I had to opt for some neutrals. Did anyone have any luck in swaying their husbands to pinks, gold, and coral? Just curious, since I had to meet halfway. Apparently I am still trying to convince Joel since I threw in a coral ikat pillow in the above collage!

Anybody else crushing on ikat right now or am I the only one?

PS- Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers if you can. We are trying to finalize these moving plans, and some things have come up lately that are making it a bit of a struggle, so we'd appreciate some well wishes sent our way. Thank you :)

  1. Love pinks and golds! I wanted a pink and gold dining room, but the hubby was pretty much against it! Im thinking I could pull those colors off in a baby girl nursery {whenever the time comes}. Love your ideas and so excited for your move!! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! Everything will work out the way it should, just keep the faith!! xoxo!

  4. I love ikat. I think it is such a versatile pattern. It is also a really easy way to tie different colors in one room together. That lamp is gorgeous! Good luck with the move. As exciting as it is, I know how stressful it can be.

  6. I'm sorry to hear your move isn't going so well! You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers - good luck! Also, I think if you stick to aqua and cream you could easily accent that with coral & gold and it wouldn't be too girly! (I'm thinking 2 aqua pillows, 1 coral.) Just my thoughts!

  13. Hi Britt! Thank you for following and the kind words! I LOVE ikat and couldn't agreeing more about the nautical theme. I've always done nautical and am completely over it. I totally think you should throw in (min) one bright pillow and coral sounds beautiful. Good luck on your move :)

  14. Sorry to hear about the snag in your moving plans... Isn't it so much fun to dream about the decorating part?!! Love it. Our house is primarily neutrals, but as such, the husband is more likely to enjoy little pops of "girly" colors. Everything in moderation, right?
